1. Introduction

Kintz ("we," "our," or "us") is a mental wellness and grief support application designed to help you process emotions, track your mood, and journal through your healing journey. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with care and transparency.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data. By using Kintz, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from those providers.
  • Journal entries: Text you write in the journaling feature, including your responses to guided prompts, mood ratings (1–10 scale), and tags you apply to entries.
  • Mood data: Mood check-ins and emotional state ratings you log within the app.
  • Grief assessment responses: Your answers to grief stage evaluation questionnaires.
  • Daily check-in data: Responses to daily emotional check-in prompts.
  • AI chat messages: Messages you send to the AI companion within the app. These are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate responses.
  • Feedback: Any feedback or support requests you submit through the app.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: Screens visited, features used, session duration, and interaction patterns — collected via Firebase Analytics to help us understand how the app is used and improve it.
  • Crash reports: Diagnostic crash logs collected via Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix technical issues. These may include device type, OS version, and app version.
  • Device information: Device model, operating system version, and language settings.
  • Purchase data: Subscription status and purchase history, managed through RevenueCat. We do not store your payment card information.
  • Push notification tokens: Used to deliver reminders and check-in notifications, if you grant permission.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect location data.
  • We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone.
  • We do not collect biometric data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide core app features: journaling, mood tracking, grief assessment, AI chat, and daily check-ins.
  • Personalize your experience: surface relevant recommendations and resources based on your expressed needs.
  • Generate AI responses: your chat messages and journal prompts are processed by OpenAI to deliver AI-assisted support.
  • Send notifications: reminders for check-ins or journaling, if you have enabled notifications.
  • Manage subscriptions: process and validate in-app purchases through RevenueCat.
  • Improve the app: analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns and crash data to fix bugs and improve features.
  • Respond to support requests: if you contact us, we use your information to respond.

We do not use your personal data to train AI models. We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

4. Encryption and Security

Journal entries are end-to-end encrypted before being stored. Your journal content is encrypted on your device using your unique encryption key, and stored encrypted in our database (Supabase). This means we cannot read your journal entries.

We use industry-standard security practices including:

  • TLS/HTTPS for all data in transit.
  • Encrypted storage for journal entries at rest.
  • Supabase Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure users can only access their own data.

Despite these measures, no system is completely immune to security risks. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your linked Google or Apple account.
